I found out I was a type 2 diabetic on my 43rd birthday (Happy Birthday.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I immediately started on medication, diet, and exercise. It was all going well for about 2 months when I had a heart attack. That happened on 12/12/2006. Now I feel better than I have in years. In January of this year I joined a new fitness center and I am now working very hard to fight both of these conditions. At this time I can say that I have lost a few battles but I am now winning the war. My health goals are simple. I want to reduce the medications I take (6 prescriptions at this time) and keep my body the way it is now. By that I mean that I don't want any amputations and no more implants (I have 2 stents from the heart attack). My PCP and my cardiologist both tell me that I am doing very well and to just keep doing what I have been doing. I want to wish everyone here good luck with their battles. I think it is good to have a network of people who are all having similar experiences.
Wow... what a small world! I saw your post on my profile. I graduated from IUP and now reside back in Johnstown (I grew up in Johnstown.). I hope all is well your way...
Hi Steve. Thanks for the friend request. I was diagnosed right after my 43rd birthday. Your story is inspiring, thanks for sharing it with all of us. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the friend request. It is so awesome that you are proactive in taking care of both conditions. I give you great credit for that. I wish you continued success!
Sorry to hear about your heat attack. I bet you were very overwhelmed with that on top of diabetes. I also take several meds. Hope you are doing much better. Keep us informed!
