Hi all again-well here it is 2 weeks after my op on wrist, and I have made a full recovery.  alt  alt  Acutually you can hardly notice where I had my stitches-had no trouble with the op at all, and came out of it really quickly.  I went into hospital 7am, and was back home @ 1pm.  I put it down to having good control of my Diabetes, so there were no complications.  The staff were great.  I couldn't have asked for better care.alt  As I have said before my BGL's have come right down, and now have so much better control.  I am just .2 above my goal HBa1c of 7.0, and am feeling so much better for it.  Not wanting to sleep in the afternoon any more, and am able to exercise a lot more than I did before.  Have started Heart Moves 2xweek, and am walking on other days.  All in all things are so much better.  About time after over 20 years of bad control.  Well thats about all for now.  deedeealt

altLast week I did a 4 day Empowerment Course here @ our Diabetes Education-as I have said before the Education here in Newcastle Australia is 1st class-I learnt quite a bit-there was only 3 people in the class (should have been 10) silly people cancelling out and loosing the opportunity to learn more about their Diabetes-every day we had to record our levels amount of insulin taken, and this was discussed with an Endo who came in every day-surprise suprise-my levels were down to normal the whole 4 days, but since being home for a week, (with lots of stress) yeah you're right they have gone sky high again-I decided that I would have a stress free weekend, so told my family and friends that from Friday night to Monday that I would not be answering my phone, or front door to anyone-boy what a weekend it has been-so quiet and relaxing-every couple of hours I would do 1/2 hour of relaxation with relaxation music-how wonderful-guess what-my BGL's have come down to normal again-I've set goals, made up a weekly menu  and just completly relaxed-I feel so good that I have decided altto do this once a month-my family and friends don't understand-but I don't care-I'm doing this for me-I have also started going to HeartMoves which is put on by the Heart Foundattion-it is a gentle exercise programme for ovet 50''s, 2 x  times a week for an hour-it's quite fun, and a great way to exercise-well more lateralt

altAt long last my levels are down-who'vd thought that my teeth would be causing my levels to be high-last week I did the Empowerment Course @ our Diabetes Education here in Newcastle-as I have said before the Education here in Newcastle is first class-there were only 3 in the class (should have been about 10)-it was better for us as we got through much more-we learnt quite a bit, and had a workbook to work through-some of the things that we did were-practical looking and reading labels of food, working out Fat and Carbs, and then working out carb exchanges for each meal-this is so important to keep your levels normal-and then the insulin that we are going to have, and how to adjust for each meal-we had charts up on the wall where we recorded our BGL's, how many carbs for each meal, and how much insulin we had for each meal, and our bolus insulin- an Endo Dr came in each day and looked at our charts, and adjusted our Insulin doses if needed, based on our charts-we also had a visit to the supermarket , to read labels, weigh fruit, veges to work out how many carb exchanges they were-we also discussed stress, relaxation,  We also talked about the type of Insulins and how they worked-all in all it was a fablous 4 days-we go back in two weeks for a follow up to see how we have been going since the course on our own-will let you all know how I go thenalt

I'm excited-just been to see my new Endo for the 2nd time in a month-he was quite pleased, even though my BGL's are not quite where he or me wants them, he was quite pleased with my HBa1c results-chlosterol etc-He has booked me into do an "Empowerment Course" next  month-I did  my 1st Empowerment in 2005-as I have said before the Education for Diabetes here in Newcastle Australia is excellent-Empowerment Courses are for Diabetics on Insulin, and is a very intense course-you learn all about the ups and downs of having Diabetes, all that goes on with it, and being on Insulin-it is also fun, as you go shopping for 1 day and learn how to read labels-fat and carbohydrates-and exchanges-I'm really looking forward to doing the 4 day course-my Endo said that he would see me on the course, but didn't want to see my after that unless their is a problem-he told me to make sure that I keep in touch with my GP, and all the checks that he does for my Diabetes-I'm estatic-unbelievable that my bottom teeth have been causing all the high's-and now that I have had them out, and waiting for a denture-my BGL's have come down to normal-I now feel that I am in control(at long last)-before even when I was doing the right thing or not my levels were always high, but now I've had the problem removed, I can see when I do the wrong thing that my levels rise-yahoo-normal levels most of the time.
