insulin stages a coordinated attack today

the day started off fine. blood sugar in the 140s. then it happened. my sugars started to creep up. by the end of the day, it was nearly 400. i bolused and bolused some more throughout this time with seemingly no effect. when i got home (we were out when it started climbing) the meter read 228. this was after a couple of bolus in the span of about 4-6 hours. i knew right then that the insulin had staged a coordinated attack against me. clearly it had decided to wait in the wings for that next bolus before it went into my system. so now, with a couple of units of active insulin left in me, i'm at 94 at still dropping. the glucose tabs are at the ready (i just munched on two--grape, yum) and i imagine that regardless of how tired i am, i'm going to have to stay up a few extra hours to avoid that unpleasant instinctual middle of the night wake up with the cold sweats and consufsion, fumbling around my little make shift night stand for the glucose tabs and trying to read my meter by glow of the tv. it's amazing how even if you're doing everything right, your body has ideas of it's own. it's just one of those days though. you just have to believe that the next one will be better.
